Each year, approximately 16,000 children are diagnosed with some form of cancer. Brain cancer recently replaced leukemia as the leading cause of cancer death among children. We want to do everything we can to find a cure for this modern-day affliction. So please join us as we shine Luca’s Light on the plight of pediatric brain cancer to raise awareness and find a cure for this deadly disease. The majority of proceeds from the sale of this book will go toward research for pediatric brain cancer.

About

February 5, 2001 was one of the happiest days of our lives. Luca Joseph Giordano was a gorgeous baby and we fell in love with him immediately. Everyone that met Luca adored him and thought he had the most amazing blue eyes. He was so happy and healthy.

In late January 2003, just before Luca’s 2nd birthday, we received the worst news—Luca was diagnosed with medulloblastoma brain cancer. Luca immediately had surgery to remove the tumor and bravely endured the recommended treatment. After this, Luca went into remission and we celebrated by throwing Luca’s medical supply bin off a cliff. However, a year later, the medulloblastoma returned and Luca underwent surgery and two stem cell transplants followed by radiotherapy.

The Lord showed His grace and mercy again and healed our boy. Luca was in remission for 11 years, and even though Luca was special and had a lot of needs, he enjoyed many things. He was able to live life with his sister Grace and his brother Gabriel who loved him very much. Luca enjoyed going to school, playing in the pool, visiting his grandparents, trips to Coronado, and playing on his iPad. If you knew Luca, you knew he loved his iPad!

In October of 2016, Luca was diagnosed with brain cancer for the third time in his short life. This time it was glioblastoma cancer. Surrounded by his loving family, he fought this horrible disease once again. Luca was an inspiration in so many respects to all who met him and brought countless people closer to our Lord Jesus. Luca celebrated his 16th birthday on February 5th, and then went to be with Jesus on June 21st 2017. He needed us, but I can honestly say we needed him more. Our precious Luca, we miss everything about you—and you are forever in our hearts.
